Transition is the time between a rector's announcement of departure to the celebration of New Ministry. This time includes everything from discernment and prayer to recruitment and celebration.
OUR TRANSITION TEAMS:
Carolyn DeFranco, Martha Fernald, Patti Kay - Secretary, Bob Osborne - Consultant,
Bob Pitzschler - Chair, Gayle Silva, Sam Sutter - Chaplain, Dick Worth
Under the guidance of a consultant from the Episcopal Church in Connecticut (ECCT), the Discernment Team facilitates parish wide listening sessions with all parishioners in a parish meeting, the vestry, and other community groups. This helps the Team develop an understanding of Trinity and using this information writes a parish profile which illustrates who we are and who we want to be. This information is available on the parish website.
The entire congregation
Amy Ginter, Simon Howes, Christian Medina, Alessandra Musso, Bob Osborne - Consultant, Manny Silva, Donna Sutter - Chaplain, Alison Walsh, Nancy Wilson, Dick Worth - Chair
After the work of the Discernment Team, a list of candidates compiled by ECCT, is used by the Recruitment Team to narrow choices based on all the information gathering done by the Discernment Team. The Recruitment Team reviews all candidate portfolios and interviews their final selections. A list of 3-4 final candidates are chosen and sent to ECCT for review and then on to the vestry for a final set of interviews and final calling of our new Rector.
The Parish Profile is finished and is available on the website. The Discernment Team has met with Bishop Douglas and Canon Tolzmann and is currently updating some sections of the Profile based on the results of that meeting. Once that process is complete, ECCT will announce the opening through various ecclesiastical channels with applications being due by the early fall.
Oh God, you know us better that we know ourselves. Guide us throughout our time of transition. Empower each one of us to use our unique gifts in ministry, to share openly and honestly our thoughts, to respect the opinions of others, and to encourage humility, patience, and joy. Instill in us a vision of the Church's family; that, guided by your Holy Spirit, we will be united in love and joyfully accomplish this mission, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
